PLAN X: Three Scenarios

OK! There are a lot of very intelligent people out there who find the idea of active conspiracies, whose aim is to control and “own” LENR energy generation – delay its rollout until such time as they have devised an implemented a plan for control, and assure a military advantage for their side – as “Paranoid!” It’s too late to stop it. They would never do that to us! My response is “Bah, Humbug!”

Consider these three possible realities.

1. YOU know about the advent of the LENR age, because of the many successful efforts to replicate the phenomenon, the many recent patents applied for in the field, and the side show now being presented to us by Defkalion and Andrea Rossi. But THEY do NOT know about it – the president or his highest level staff, the ultra rich, the most highly placed military, CEOs etc. at the largest energy, financial and related industries.

2. They DO know about LENR breakthroughs, but will let nature and capitalism run it’s course for the good of humanity. After all, they stand to make even more money because they have the capital to take advantage of the opportunities the fledgling industry presents.

3. They DO know about the LENR breakthroughs, and are making every effort to control and eventually own the entire LENR industry for their own good and long term security.

First, I do not like debates with the “missing middle,” so I actively invite anyone to add to this little list. I could, of course, create a good bit more of a continuum between the three. You know,  like between one and two, something like “They’ve heard of this crap but don’t believe it for a heartbeat”, or between two and three “They can’t control Rossi and Defkalion, but they’ll get their people going on this ASAP, and try to catch up and own at least a part of it”. But, I think the list does accurately define a continuum of possible states regarding the current knowledge and intent of the Military/Financial Complex, which for all intents and purposes runs the world.

It seems faintly possible that scenario one is in play. Mid-level sycophants might be very reluctant to stick their neck out too far in convincing those above them that this whole crazy impending transformation of society is in fact REAL. It IS possible that the rigidity of the hierarchy will provide the seeds of its own eventual extinction. I’m afraid that I might be guilty of overestimating the intelligence of at least some of the MFC (Military/Financial Complex).  I cannot imagine being in their position and NOT having specialists watching for exactly the kind of scenarios which now presents itself. But, considering the absolute doltishness of various empires in their later stages, who knows? Would Nero have listened? What about King George III and the American Revolution? How about Hitler or Stalin? So, I guess this end of the spectrum might possibly be how it will go, much to my delight (“delight” is much too weak a word! Something like “giddy, orgasmic ecstasy” might be better, but, it IS a figure of speech!)

My belief is that the reality is somewhere much closer to scenario three. I just cannot imagine anyone at the top of the MFC passively watching this all evolve because,  at some point, it will have developed to the point that it IS past their control. Maybe that is already the case, but I don’t think so. If I were in their position, I would, beyond any shadow of a doubt, be up to my elbows in trying to get a handle on the whole ball of nickel. How could they not? They should! It would be beyond any defense if they were simply “ambushed” by all this. If the military lost the opportunity to develop and secure an advantage as huge as this they would be rounded up, lined up and strung up in short order. The electorate would never forgive elected officials for not having this power source, largely developed and verified at NASA and SPAWAR, used as a club for American hegemony. Don’t you think?

Question is, what do the few hundred thousand of us, who ARE aware of the vast potential of this for the future of the human race, do in the face of such powerful, secretive and ruthless authority? The spectrum of possibilities is actually sitting close to the scenario three end, in my opinion, and the only recourse is PLAN X! Publish, Disseminate, Translate and Finance. For once the REST of us are in a position to compete in the meme-space and for the awareness of PlanetMind. Keep spreading the word, and wait for the chance to actually take part in a world-wide, people financed and controlled effort to let LENR knowledge and technology truly enter the public domain.

  1. T.R. says:

I wonder if this whole LENR thing isn’t an operation similar to President Reagan’s STAR WARS, that scared the poo out of the Soviet Union. This would be geared to scare the bejeesus out of probably Iran. Hope it’s for real though.

  2. Earl says:

The 3 scenarios do not consider Fukushima, possibly the worst disaster in the history of the human race. The tens of thousands of kgs of plutonium now in the wild will be polluting the planet for billions of years and damaging all human and animal DNA. Only one micro-gram of plutonium is so poisonous that it will kill you. The game-changer is not LENR, but Fukushima. The rich and powerful, as well as the military, are well aware of the extreme radiation levels in Japan and USA and they know that they no longer have any other choice but to permit the rapid introduction of LENR. They could, however, decide LENR is the wrong road to go down and therefore decide to release better technology such as shown with the Alfred Hubbard generator ( 1920 – 1928 Washington State ), the Dr. T. Henry Moray generator ( Salt Lake City 1920′s + 1930′s ), the Nicola Tesla converted Pierce Arrow (1920′s), the Lester J. Hendershot generator from the 1920′s, the Energia Celeste Electromagnetic Device and generator from Italy, and others. The photos of Hubbard’s little boat with generator and electrical motor clearly show no possibility of hidden energy sources. Very simple and primitive technology developed around the years 1915 – 1918.

All scenarios for future energies must now incorporate the Fukushima disaster as their central theme around which all else revolves. I think this is more important than oil being sold in dollars.

There are also wild card factors that could enter into the equation: a bombing of Iran that turns into a Bay of Pigs fiasco times 1 million. It only takes 2 or 3 oil tankers on fire to raise insurance rates so high that the tankers will stay in port. The strait does have to be physically blocked. The Military-Financial-Complex is between a rock and a hard place because the Iran embargo has back-fired and Iran will no longer sell in dollars, nor to Europe. This means Iran must be bombed into a regime change so they sell their oil in dollars again. If not, the American economy will collapse. Both the Euro and the dollar are ready to fall into the aybiss. It will not take much to implode the entire global financial system at this point in time. The MFC knows that seaskiming missiles traveling at Mach 2.5 with ranges of 120 km can sink all aircraft carriers and support ships within minutes of outbreak of hostilities with Iran. China will take care of those in the Pacific and invade Taiwan at the same time. Israel will cease to exist.

The Military-Financial-Complex is confronted with extremely complex and difficult decisions to make. I do not think they want to make quick decisions about an Iran war, but in the meantime oil is not being sold in dollars and Rossi ramps up production while Iran continues with missile development and deep underground bases.

    Scenario 11
The only way out from between the rock and a hard place is radical, new thinking. The MFC will permit introduction of so-called free energy generators (Tesla, Hubbard coil, etc.) and remove gag orders from many of the sequestered 6000 energy patents. Instead of global financial collapse, economies will boom and unemployment will plummet. LENR will become unnecessary and will be forgotten as solid-state fuel-less electrical generators become the norm. Wars will become obsolete and ET disclosure will begin. The human race will grow up and become adults instead of bickering children.

if you know how much Pu get spread by atmospheric bomb test , and don’t forget natural thorium by volcanoes…
and fear bananas! ther are radioactive and contaminating.

      • Earl says:

        Hi Alain,

thanks for your concern, but I do not read untouchable professional liars that have an agenda. As an Engineer I try to ferret out the facts and make my own conclusions.

While it is tragic that so many died in a tsunami, a tsunami does not cause wide-spread damage to DNA over the next 10 billion years. I am well aware of the fact that radioactivity is released naturally and by man. When in high school, my physics teacher measured the background radioactivity every day and kept records. The effects of each nuclear test could be easily seen. There are already deaths in both Chernobyl and Fukushima. Europe will suffer innumerable cancer deaths as a result of Chernobyl, and Fukushima is a million times worse. Some countries have had to prohibit some Japanese imports after their testing revealed too high radioactive contamination. The atomic bombs used in Irak have caused terrible birth defects in Iraki children and many sick GIs. One of the worst thing that ever happened to the human race was discovering neutron chain reaction.

        Hi All,
I forgot to mention the multi kWatt electrical generator invented by Tariel Kapanazde from Georgia (Eastern Europe). Quite a story until now. He had the patent done by a Turkish company who perhaps stole, I mean improved, the idea from him and a rumor says it has also been sold to China. Many people are trying to replicate this device, but until now Tariel has not released sufficient details. As soon as a breakthrough device appears, the feeding frenzy starts, knives come out, and morals disappear. The present system does not permit rapid technological advancement for the benefit of the entire human race.

        My 2 cents, regards, Earl

where did you learn that dna defect are propagated.
it is a result of observation that, if kids in some foetal period, are very sensible, ther is no propagation of mutation from parents to kids. it seems that the “auto check” in embyonogenesis are very efficient.

about cancer around chernobyl, they are well understood.
the impact stopped a a few 100km of the plant, touching only kids, especially because ethey wer missing iodium because of poverty (lack of sea salt). few died of bad treatment, most survived.
only a few dozen of suicide firemen amon a few hundred died soon or later or huge irradiation that have nothing to compare with even the strongest in fukushima.

anyway what you repeat is very common, and part of the urban myth that green propagate despite the facts… lie, lie, there will always stay something in the mind…

fukishima zone is less radioactive than some zone in iran or brasil, (and maybe some place of france) where people live well.

          http://www.angelfire.com/mo/radioadaptive/ramsar.html

beer, soot, barbecue, alcohol, tobacco have much more effect on heath.
stress too, and suicide and other mental disease linked to displacement stress are the strongest cause of death at chernobyl.
it seems that the japanese will take the lesson and allow the people to go back home, when radiation level is about 25mSv/y (1/4 of the no-effect limit), to avoid more lethal mental impact.

plane are also a big source of irradiation, no danger, but huge irradiation according to you criteria. no impact on workers heath according to studies.

    • Sandy says:

Here is another example of a “solid-state fuel-less electrical generator”…

      http://pesn.com/2012/02/07/9602034_Fund_Drive_for_S._Africa_Trip_to_See_New_Number_1_Free_Energy_Technology/

If this generator really works it would not make LENR-based devices obsolete because the generator is very large and heavy in comparison to an E-Cat of comparable (thermal) power.

  3. Anony Mole says:

I raised this comment elsewhere but think that it is apropos to the discussion that Mr. Baccei has raised. Where is Japan in all this? Japan imports the most coal, the most nat.gas and something like 6 million barrels of oil per day. They spend over a billion U.S. dollars every day to fuel their energy needs, their economy. Wouldn’t you think they’d like to have something cheaper than fossil fuels to run their country on? So, where are they? Where’s their news? What are they doing with LENR? It’s got to be something right? The Japanese have more to win in this than any of us.

If we assume, for the moment, that Japan, easily the most technologically advanced society on the planet, has embraced LENR in some fashion; that they have investigated the theories and experiments of all those who are in the know regarding this subject; and that they are proceeding on their own with development of LENR energy sources, then they must be hiding their progress. Toyota was in it for a while but what happened? And to imagine that NONE of the companies in this list – Sony, Casio, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Fujitsu, Yamaha, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Suzuki, Mazda, Hitachi, Toshiba, etc. are exploring LENR as an energy source is plain folly. Some, if not all of them, must be intensely exploring this technology. Just in your minds compare the technological prowess of this list to the likes of Rossi or Defkalion. There’s no comparison. If any country can leverage LENR to their advantage it will be Japan.

So, you’ll have to admit that Japan has a huge win in store for them if LENR can be productionized. And that Japanese corporations possess more than the capability to achieve this. Therefore, IF LENR is truly viable, the Japanese must be suppressing the news of their own experiments and production expansion as the combination of their need and their ability presumes that Japan has already entered the new energy age.

If there is any one wealthy person whose interest and investment in cold fusion would make a significant difference, that would be Warren Buffet. He has already called his peers out for paying too little taxes and he seems to be cut from a different mold than anyone, rich or poor.

11 Interesting Facts About Warren Buffet

    1. He bought his first share at age 11 and he now regrets that he started too late!
    2. He bought a small farm at age 14 with savings from delivering newspapers.
    3. He still lives in the same small 3 bedroom house in mid-town Omaha, that he bought after he got married 50 years ago. He says that he has everything he needs in that house. His house does not have a wall or a fence.
    4. He drives his own car everywhere and does not have a driver or security people around him.
    5. He never travels by private jet, although he owns the world’s largest private jet company.
    6. His company, Berkshire Hathaway, owns 63 companies. He writes only one letter each yearto the CEOs of these companies, giving them goals for the year. He never holds meetings or calls them on a regular basis.
    7. He has given his CEO’s only two rules. Rule number 1: do not lose any of your share holder’s money. Rule number 2: Do not forget rule number 1.
    8. He does not socialize with the high society crowd. His past time after he gets home is to make himself some pop corn and watch television.
    9. Bill Gates, the world’s richest man met him for the first time only 5 years ago. Bill Gates did not think he had anything in common with Warren Buffet. So he had scheduled his meeting only for half hour. But when Gates met him, the meeting lasted for ten hours and Bill Gates became a devotee of Warren Buffet.
    10. Warren Buffet does not carry a cell phone, nor has a computer on his desk.
    11. His advice to young people:
    * Stay away from credit cards and invest in yourself.
    * Money doesn’t create man it is the man who created the money.
    * Live your life as simply as you can.
    * Don’t do what others say, listen to them, but then do what you feel is the right thing to do.
    * Don’t buy brand names; instead just wear those things in that make you feel comfortable.
    * Don’t waste your money on unnecessary things; rather spend it on those who are really in need.
    * It’s your life so why allow others to rule our life.

  7. Roger Bird says:

Years ago some scientists decided that saturated fats were bad for human beings. Those scientists wrote books about the matter and became relatively rich and famous. They had a vested interest in all saturated fats being unhealthy. Along comes research on coconut oil, which is a saturated fat, but it is a medium chained fatty acid. Coconut proves to anyone researching the matter and anyone who tries it to be a super healthy food. It made my inflammation disappear like a snow ball in a volcano. But still, the rich and famous scientists really have no interest in investigating coconut oil.

Coconut oil used to be used by all fast food outlets. When the scientist wrote books about how all saturated fats are bad for you, the fast food business switched to canola oil and the like, never mind that cooked canola oil and the like is deadly and is known to be deadly. Millions of people have died because of this mistake.

In 1915, Alfred Wegener found some interesting evidence and decided that the continents moved. Scientists slammed Wegener for 50 years. Then the U.S. Navy publicized their radar maps of the Atlantic ocean, and scientists said, “Oops!”

The very same thing is happening with LENR. Vested interests are not interested and will never be interested in LENR, until perhaps when they see one at Home Depot and realize how much they can save on their own utility bills. Their incomes and prestige impel them in the opposite direction.

  8. EverythinIsOk says:

There’s a lot of other stuff going on in the world right now.. There’ll be big changes soon, most of them for the worse.. like economic collapse.
OTOH the cold fusion movement is gathering steam world-wide; it looks like it’ll be very hard to suppress at this stage. So cold fusion will be unrolled bit by bit, but in the context of other big stuff unrolling.

  9. pipmon says:

Anyone who’s ever tried to coordinate a large group of people will know that the idea that you could get them all to agree on any one thing is vanishingly small. (e.g. the opinions in this column ;) )
Imagining very complicated and contrived ‘conspiracy theories’ requiring perfect coordination from all parties and total allegiance to the aims and methods used to achieve it is, as far as I’m concerned, just fanciful daydreaming.
So why no concerted action from the gov. or the mythical MFC versus LENR? My vote goes to a combination of ignorance for some, disbelief in many, knowledge in some but with no access to anyone of authority, fear of ridicule for others, not wanting to admit having made a past mistake about CF for a few, and so on and so on.
I call this the theory of distributed ineptitude. It wins every time.

    • Roger Bird says:

popmon, I could try to agree with you more, but I doubt that it would be possible.

Look at the Republicans. They all hate Obama’s administration, but they can’t even agree on hating Obama. Some love him but hate his governance. Some tolerate him but hat his governance. Some dislike him but admit that he is a good family man but hate his governance. Some dislike him and don’t care about his family but hate his governance. I could go on and on, and I am not even starting to talk about abortion, state’s rights, the EPA, etc. etc. etc.

  10. Brad Arnold says:

I think the scenario that most likely explains the current state of affairs is the explanation for why President George Bush, Jr was so incurious and complacent during his terms as the US President: When poor people screw up, they really pay dearly for their mistakes, but when rich and powerful people screw up, their mistakes have very little repercussion because they have the wealth and influence to buffer themselves from the negative consequences of their actions (and inactions). I call it the “so what syndrome.” Furthermore, as any CEO will tell you, it isn’t inaction and caution that will get you in trouble, but bold action that isn’t optimal.

President Obama, Secretary of Energy Chu, and the large number of bureaucrats in the government are comfortable with the status quo: they are on top and isolated from the day to day struggles to survive that we the people endure every waking minute. Why the heck would they want to prematurely promote a far fetched and highly destabilizing energy technology like LENR? As time unwinds, things will be more clear, and pressure will build to do something, but for now they would be behaving in a risky and an eye-brow raising pro-active manner embracing an emerging technology.

BTW, any one who thinks LENR can be suppressed is sadly mistaken – heating Ni & H under pressure (plus a few more tricks) is just too simple and profitable to stifle. The current rate of technological progress is standard for emerging unique technologies. Just wait for successful commercialization – it will be the talk of the town. Then our “leaders” will exploit it (leadership is frequently just seeing which way the mob is going and then stepping in front of crowd).

  11. Ben says:

Well, at least one wealthy individual who has stepped forward to be counted. Billionaire Sidney Kimmel is stepping forward with a grant of $5.5 million to help fund cold fusion/LENR research at the University of Missouri.

    Thank you sir!

Billionaire helps fund MU energy research
    Columbia Daily Tribune

  12. Sandy says:

Scenario 5. The powers that be (i.e., the Military-Financial Complex; MFC) are fully aware of the impending commercialization of LENR by Rossi and Defkalion. The MFC scuttled the commercialization of LENR in 1996 by James Patterson. The MFC would try to scuttle current commercialization efforts if it could. However, the MFC is allowing Rossi and Defkalion to commercialize LENR now because the MFC recognizes that a hydrogen-gas/nickel-powder LENR system is so simple that it cannot be suppressed. The MFC is accepting defeat.

The MFC has not publicly acknowledged that LENR is a practical alternative to the generation of electricity by nuclear fission. They will not acknowledge that until after they have smashed Iran’s uranium enrichment plants and uranium-fueled power stations. They could offer to give Iran 1,000,000 e-cats in exchange for Iran’s pledge to abandon its uranium-based technologies but they will not make that offer because uranium enrichment is not the real issue. What they really want is regime change. They want to force Iran to sell their oil for U.S. dollars, not for gold or Rupees or Yen or Yuan. The MFC will not be satisfied until Iran has a Rothschild-controlled central bank, which will systematically suck the life out of the Iranian people, just like the Federal Reserve System is sucking the life out of America.

    END THE FED!

  13. Anony Mole says:

Scenario 4. THEY know all about LENR, have done their due diligence and found the possibility that this technology is disruptive is negligible.

Now, I hope this is not the case. I hope the Exxon’s, Chevron’s, Gazproms, Aramco’s, etc. have been bamboozled by “Cold conFusion” and have ignored it to their peril. I hope that every national government has simply skipped over this topic as mere fringe, Area 51, nonsense. Or I hope that these entities have embraced their altruistic sides and have decided to quietly nurture this technology so that it grows organically to blossom into the “new energy world order” that it may become (where they can then invest and participate in a cooperative United Nations like fashion.)

I seriously doubt that concerted, global effort is at play here designed to suppress and contain this contagion. I doubt that the world’s reserve currency is at risk through the exposure and instant adoption of this breakthrough technology. I doubt that GS, MS, JPMs, BAC, UBS, Credit Suisse, Mitsubishi, RBS have neither ignored this phenomena, nor have they bedeviled the MFC, as you say, to lay clandestine traps for the Rossi’s and Defkalions of the world. Or to whip up the FUD to cacophonous levels.

It has been my stance and dream that # 4 is not a possibility. That 1, 2, and 3 are most likely the determining factors why we haven’t seen an explosion of activity surrounding this technology. And maybe some of my other comments about the world just being slower than we think it is is in fact the true factor here, a number 5 if you will, where 1 – 4 are all developing here but v—e—r—y slowly.
So, number five is my vote.

  14. Like I said the other day.
I think the E-cat in is probably the real deal, but I don’t ascribe to the idea that the powers that be will murder or threaten Rossi, or anything too dramatic. I think evolution and fate is on the side of Rossi and super cheap energy.

    Peace!

    • Even if they they stopped or hindered Rossi. Other super cheap inventions will pop up. Some even being in other countries. Like I said evolution and fate are on our side.

      Peace!

  15. alaincoe says:

It is hard to imagine how people who enjoy a powerful situation can voluntarily ignore what menace their standing.

it is hard also to imagine that they are so frightening to their staff that few or none dare to talk of non consensual ideas like cold fusion. organization in corp, like in research, are very good in suppressing dissent

for individual if something is in the process of ruining your life, there is a clear tendency to think that it is false, and you can avoid it… when the danger get need you just get more violent to shut the mouth of dissidents…

Roland benabou have studied collective delusion…
here is a vulgarization article from a blog
    http://seekingalpha.com/article/124027-denial-collective-housing-delusions
he describe the pattern of denial in that document
    http://www.princeton.edu/~rbenabou/papers/Patterns%20of%20Denial%204l%20fin.pdf
he have made many papers on modeling the dynamic and rationality of self delusion…
when you refuse to see the truth to protect your false feeling of wealth and success.
    http://www.princeton.edu/~rbenabou/papers/Groupthink%20IOM%207p%20paper.pdf

many strong ideas. it explain that in hierarchy, the subordinates follow the vision of the top management, even in delusion. rational.

    • alaincoe says:

just to correct a little my idea.
at some moment facing the fact, there will be more and more dissenter.
mostly those who dis not invest much in dead solution…
then rationally the big player who get out of group delusion, will simply try to capture the technology to take all the benefit for them.

      (proposal 2 is not realistic)

today with modern management, they won’t try to oppose any change (even if stupid like some we see today), but to capture it and put all property and benefit in their pocket.
for LENR it will be hard, because nickel is too common and 10% anual production will be enough for all planet energy (as electricity with 33% efficiency).
      http://www.defkalion-energy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=5196#p5196
the patent will be the second idea, but seeing defaklion success and the variety of LENR protocols, I guess that no patent will be able to block LENR.
moreover in poor countries, the patent won’t be respected.

the only solution will be to make the population afraid (radioactivity, explosion, chemical, witch or voodoo). The environmentalist have already started to frighten people .
Big player will support those effort to block LENR at home, and both will lobby the governments and the media.
the result could be that LENR is allowed only for big players…

it is why Defkalion, and Rossi effort to sell small boiler is really a good thing.
it is THE SECRET OF SUCCESS OF FREE (like speech, not beer) LENR.
it is essential that a million of citizen lobby the politicians and inform the neighbors, to bloc the privatization of LENR by big players.

    • Roger Bird says:

You assume right away that rich people would look at LANR as a menace. They are used to changing investments. They do it all the time. They hire people to keep an eye on their investments and to switch investments when necessary or when they think that they can have an advantage. Most industries will thrive with cheaper energy. These rich people and their minions will sell their energy company stocks and invest in those companies which will be benefited by lower energy costs.

And as I said before, the rich and powerful are not a monolithic, unified mind. They are all different and independent (just like you and me, what a concept!!) and will invest their money to their advantage (just like you and me).

Furthermore, most of the big money is in pension plans, like Cal-Pirgs (spelling?), and those people have NOTHING better to do than to invest YOUR money in the best possible places.

      • Sandy says:

You were probably thinking of CalPERS (California Public Employees’ Retirement System; http://www.calpers.ca.gov) which has billions of dollars to invest.

CALPIRG is the acronym for the California Public Interest Research Group —

you are right than those who will accept the fact will sure try to adapt, and not fight the change. they will surf the wave.
but changing is costly for people, or organization, that are installed in their wealth. it is easier not to see the change, to keep your own comfort.
not factually rational, but emotionally rational. see the patterns of denial pamphlet I cite here.
you are right the “the rich” is neither a coherent gang (at most an emergin coopetition network of competing similar interest), nor majority of physical people. it is mostly organization, controlled by an oligarchy of fearful salarymen, that have a very negative model of their clients.

The people who own private companies (rather than stock held companies), like the Koch brothers, will be hurt the most because it will be more difficult to be nimble. Publicly held energy companies will just wither away with stock holders running towards more promising companies.

These categories, like “the rich and powerful”, are not static nor are they homogeneous. Perhaps some rich and powerful know about LENR but have their doubts. Among those who know about it, some are looking to take advantage of it. Some are sitting and waiting. Some are trying to figure out how to stop it. Some “rich and powerful” are wavering between doubt and certainty, like me and most other members of the cheer-leading squad. So the fundamental assumptions behind this survey are flawed. The rich and powerful are not of one mind about this or anything else, except perhaps not having to worry about paying the mortgage. But I guarantee they have other things that they think are important enough to worry about.

A lot of this conspiracy theory and paranoia scenario thinking is based upon the false assumption that people in any group are all of one mind about anything. This thinking is especially flawed when it comes to economic classes. Not even every black person voted for Obama. I am poor and I vote conservative and/or libertarian, but have sympathy for environmental protection. Trying to cram people into categories is unrealistic.

I agree completely about the lack of homogeneity in among the several thousands who have great power in the Military Financial Complex. I also assure you that I am not positing a “behind closed doors” committee which makes cohesive decisions and directives. My point is that there is a great commonality of interests among these individuals and the groups they represent, and have similar “tool kits” for achieving their goals. In the case of LENR it seems to me very credible that big energy, mainline academia, strategic military planers, large financial institutions and top level government would all have a common interest in not letting LENR loose on the world without a tight leash, and enough “ownership” to insulate their preeminent positions from the risks of chaotic change. Each sub group might be motivated differently, i.e. mainline academia will defend the “standard model” to avoid the vast loss of credibility which would ensue from the complete vindication of Pons & Fleischman. It astounds me that you do not understand that the sheer magnitude of effects which will result from development of LENR will necessitate massive defensive measures from many if not all of these groups!

Does the Military Financial Complex (ooooh, I am so scared) include the various pension plans that have monster holdings in the market. I think that you people are about 100 year behind the times.

        • Ben says:

The Military Financial Complex is not a new concept. It has been known for 50 years as the military-industrial complex. The replacement of “industrial” with “financial” is just to reflect the current integration of the financial services industry in the United States with the previous marriage between industry and military. President Dwight D. Eisenhower coined the term in his farewell address in 1961, warning that it would engulf the nation and its resources if left unchecked.

I am not sure why you continue to try to paint well-established socio-economic concepts as fringe ideas. The MFC or MICC, has become so ingrained in the American culture, largely by the half-century Cold War, that people just accept it without knowledge that things are not really supposed to be this way. The Cold War has been over for 2 decades but the infrastructure that supported is far from being dismantled.

Military–industrial complex (MIC), or Military–industrial-congressional complex[ (MICC) is a concept commonly used to refer to policy and monetary relationships between legislators, national armed forces, and the defense industrial base that supports them. These relationships include political contributions, political approval for defense spending, lobbying to support bureaucracies, and beneficial legislation and oversight of the industry. It is a type of iron triangle.

The term is most often used in reference to the military of the United States, where it gained popularity after its use in the farewell address of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, though the term is applicable to any country with a similarly developed infrastructure.

The term is sometimes used more broadly to include the entire network of contracts and flows of money and resources among individuals as well as institutions of the defense contractors, The Pentagon, and the Congress and executive branch. This sector is intrinsically prone to principal–agent problem, moral hazard, and rent seeking. Cases of political corruption have also surfaced with regularity.

A similar thesis was originally expressed by Daniel Guérin, in his 1936 book Fascism and Big Business, about the fascist government support to heavy industry. It can be defined as, “an informal and changing coalition of groups with vested psychological, moral, and material interests in the continuous development and maintenance of high levels of weaponry, in preservation of colonial markets and in military-strategic conceptions of internal affairs.

Does typing evey article in bold empower this author? My nine year old did that once.

Does anybody else find all bold articles annoying?

Does this author have a hard time seeing?

MAYBE TRY TYPING THE ENTIRE ARTICLE IN CAPITAL LETTERS. THAT CAN BE EQUALLY AS ANNOYING.

I didn’t really notice the font. If it had been bolded, that would have been a problem for me. All bold is harder to read that mixed case with descenders. (Oops! I am agreeing with the federal government. I’ll have to watch that.)
